BTS Arian Foster 10th Anniversary Jersey leader’s season-best run extended to 47

Brilliant baseball minds and barstool buds alike have long debated the question: “Is Player A better than Player B?”

And always, invariably, somebody brings batting average into the discussion.

Now, we could spend a great deal of electronic ink analyzing the merits of batting average as an evaluative tool, but instead, we’ve come together to watch William Bryan, MLB.com’s Beat the Streak season leader.

And guess what? Bryan is now just 10 correct picks from Houston Texans Store winning $5.6 million. In the history of fantasy sports, no contest has ever proffered such a prolific grand prize.

If you want in on the action, join the fun for free by going to mlb.com/bts or download Beat the Streak from the Apple app store or on Google Play.

T-minus 10 picks to millionaire status became official on Friday night, when Atlanta’s Chris Johnson homered in the first inning of Friday’s game against the Marlins.

“I am actually working my second job … and am sitting in my car listening to Braves radio,” Bryan said on Friday. “I was extremely elated [when Johnson homered]. Immediately, my phone started blowing up from all of my work friends giving me congratulations.”

By presciently picking a player to a tally a hit for the 47th straight time, Bryan took another step closer to the jaw-dropping jackpot. He’s nearly close enough to touch it, 82 percent of the way there, to be precise.

“It is starting to become more and more real at this point,” Bryan said. “My wife, Kelli, has been keeping me grounded the past couple days, but even she is starting to get pretty excited.”

Even if he were to fall short of his ultimate goal, Bryan is currently in line to collect the $10,000 consolation set aside for the Streaker who ends 2013 atop the BTS leaderboard. He took sole possession of the BTS season lead with a Yasiel Puig single on Thursday.

“I wasn’t aware of the $10,000 prize for the season winner, [assuming no one wins the $5.6 million grand prize],” Bryan said. “When I found that out Wednesday night, I had a hard time sleeping.”

“The prospect of winning [at least] $10,000 is amazing. With my wife and I just having our daughter, Harper, who is now 4 months old, we accrued a lot of medical bills and other debt because of my wife being out of work for six weeks. Also, my wife is a teacher and I am a cop, so obviously we are not wealthy. The $10,000 would go a long way to getting us back on our feet.”

Thirty years of age and employed to protect the South Metro Atlanta area as a law enforcement officer, Bryan, an ardent Braves fan, is a loving husband and father of two.

Bryan has relied heavily on his hometown team to close in on history. Of his 47 correct picks, 21 have come from Braves batters. Leading the way have been two corner infielders: Johnson and first baseman Freddie Freeman, who have been beckoned eight times each.

Meanwhile, corner outfielders Justin Upton and Jason Heyward have both come through twice, and Bryan has called on catcher Brian McCann and second baseman Dan Uggla once each.

Fittingly, it was Johnson — the National League’s top hitter entering Friday (.339) — who pushed Bryan’s run to 47, two picks behind all-time BTS leader Mike Karatzia, whose run reached 49 in 2007.

“Chris Johnson, wow!” Bryan said. “In the beginning of the year, everyone was thinking he was going to be the backup to [Juan] Francisco, and then he just exploded. As a longtime Braves fan, I have always seen [Chipper Jones] at the hot corner, and now to see Johnson there, I don’t think we have lost anything with Chipper retiring.”

Johnson has been especially Arian Foster Jersey Sale ablaze at the plate of late, entering Friday with a smoldering .366 average since the start of July. And just last weekend, Johnson completed an eight-game stretch with multiple hits recorded — the longest in Braves history, according to STATS, LLC.

Johnson — who entered 2013 as a lifetime .276 hitter — is in the midst of a career campaign. Whether Johnson’s success should be attributed to skill or some combination of talent and luck is up for debate, but let’s save that conversation for later.

One of baseball’s most beautiful perks is its propensity to surprise in ways imagined by few. Johnson’s helping to inspire that kind of visceral reaction from Braves Country right now, and he pushed Bryan one step closer to his ultimate goal.

In Beat the Streak, participants try to establish a virtual “hitting streak” by picking one or two big leaguers per day, with their runs continuing as long as their selections collect at least one hit in their games. In 13-plus seasons of BTS play, no one has matched Joe DiMaggio’s magic number of 56, set in 1941. To win the $5.6 million prize, one must top Joe D.’s run by one.

Fans this year have Arian Foster Jersey been chasing the 57 mark in a more aggressive fashion than ever. You can, too. And best of all, participating takes just seconds a day. Not a bad deal, considering the millions of reasons to play.

Tigers will activate Peralta Texans Elite Jersey Friday, try him out in LF

Jhonny Peralta will be back in a Tiger uniform this weekend when his 50-game suspension ends for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal. There’s a very real possibility he’ll be on Detroit’s postseason roster as well.

Team president/general manager Dave Dombrowski made the first part official on Wednesday, saying that their displaced shortstop turned left-field candidate will be activated to the 40-man roster on Thursday, the day his suspension ends.

“He’s worked hard, eager to get back. The team has been receptive to him coming back, and we think it’s best for the ballclub to give him the opportunity,” Dombrowski said.

Peralta will return for Friday’s series opener at Miami as an option in left field. He could be an insurance option at shortstop if Texans Store Online Jose Iglesias isn’t ready to return from his bruised left hand, but Dombrowski and manager Jim Leyland both think Iglesias will be back at short on Friday.

The postseason question, Dombrowski cautioned, has yet to be decided. When asked how much Peralta has to show in left field over three regular-season games, Dombrowski offered a little bit of clarity on how they see Peralta’s situation as a potential playoff left fielder.

“I think we just have to have a comfort zone that he can perform out there,” Dombrowski said. “And even if he can’t perform out there as much as you’d like, does he still make you better going into the postseason with him on your roster, depending on how everything shapes up? And those are not discussions for today. Those are discussions for another today, because we haven’t even reached that point as of yet.”

Peralta will have to be added to the 40-man roster. To make room, the Tigers will place infielder Danny Worth on the 60-day disabled list. Worth’s season ended earlier this month with a dislocated left shoulder.

When Jim Leyland was asked last night about Bruce Rondon’s performance in his first outing in three weeks, he answered with a measure of trepidation. He wanted to wait to see how Rondon felt today before allowing himself to feel really encouraged.

This is why.

“Not good,” Leyland said today when asked how Rondon is feeling.

UPDATE: Leyland didn’t have anything else on it, but head athletic trainer Kevin Rand said later that it’s elbow discomfort in the same area he had it a few weeks ago.

“He came in today with some complaints of discomfort in his elbow, similar to what he had in Boston,” Rand said. “It’s hard to determine at this point if it’s to that point, so we’re just going to treat him today, try to get it quieted down and re-evaluate it. …

“The question is: Is it just [out of] going back out there again, getting back up and throwing at 100 percent? Is it that, or is it more than that? We have to obviously err on the side of caution and treat him today with an off-day tomorrow and just kind of re-evaluate it.”

Rand did not give a timetable, and he wouldn’t say it’s day-to-day. He did not, however, use the same outlook as Leyland.

“I would say Jim said not good because he doesn’t have him available tonight,” Rand Texans Elite Jersey said. “It’s never good when I walk in [to his office] and tell him you haven’t got that guy for tonight.”

Whatever the issue is — he missed three weeks with a tender elbow — he’s not available tonight. Neither is Al Alburquerque (four outings last five days), and Leyland would like to avoid using closer Joaquin Benoit. So it could be an interesting night as the Tigers attempt to clinch the AL Central, depending on how far Max Scherzer pitches into tonight’s game.

For the second time in six weeks, Joaquin Benoit delivered eight outs over two nights. Except for one fastball over the plate that Brian Dozier jumped Monday night, he would’ve gotten back-to-back saves out of it.

That kind of workload is something Leyland rarely does with Benoit until the postseason. He did it once last year, and that was during a busy June that set up his spat of home runs around midseason. Expect him to be called upon for a four- or five-out save at some point in the playoffs if the Tigers make another run, because of how much pressure rests on each game.

Benoit knows it, and he knows he needs to be able to do it. As much as he wanted to be out there Tuesday after the blown save on Monday and give the team some reassurance, he knew it would be a test for him.

“It was really challenging for me coming back — 1 2/3 yesterday, coming back and throwing one inning today,” Benoit said. “It was good.”

He wasn’t the only one reassuring. Bruce Rondon returned to the Tigers bullpen after three weeks working back from a tender elbow, promptly entered a big game in the eighth inning, and had to show what he has at this point. The 101 mph fastball is still there. The slider, a pitch that puts stress on the elbow, might have looked better than ever.

Even he wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but he couldn’t have been happier with the results: 10 pitches, 3 strikeouts.

Rondon said he felt “a little bit weird, a little bit tight” on his first few pitches before he settled in. He also felt somewhat scared about throwing his slider because of the elbow — until he saw the results.

He’s not going to replace Jose Veras in the Personalized Texans Jersey eighth inning, no matter how much frustration fans might have over the results lately. But if he’s back as an option, whether for a batter or an inning, he has the chance to be a major factor in the postseason. For him, too, Tuesday was a test.

“I wanted to see if he threw it over the plate or around the plate,” Leyland said. “The only thing I was concerned about was the control because he hadn’t pitched in so long, but it set up just right for him, the lineup did, because you had three right-handers in a row there. So we couldn’t ask for anything better.

“If we don’t get Custom Texans Jersey through it there, then we don’t get through it. But I was impressed with the fact that he threw the ball over the plate and around the plate, and he got them speeding the bat up to catch up with the fastball and the slider was very effective.”

Breakfast: Adding more than just the draft class

Everyone loves rookies.Right now, on the home page of www.etexansstore.com, rookies occupy three of the top five slots in our ‘popular’ rankings list at the top of the page. That list, created based on fans’ searches, shows that everyone is excited about the new guys recently added to the Texans roster.

However, the 2015 draft class isn’t the only crop of players we are seeing for the first time. There are several players from the class of 2014 that are finally getting a chance to show their talents and skills on the field. Names like Xavier Su’a-Filo, Louis Nix and Lonnie Ballentine have been singled out during organized training activities by the coaching staff.

In a recent interview with our own Drew Dougherty, Su’a-Filo mentioned “it feels like night and day” from his first to second season. While Su’a-Filo saw the field in 2014, a late start (UCLA is on the quarter system) had him behind the eight ball early in camp. This year the former Bruin spent a lot of time in the building during the offseason, looking to jump start his sophomore campaign.

Nix, who ended last season injured reserve, talked about dealing with a tough start to his NFL career.

“I learned a lot,” Nix told Dougherty. “Sometimes adversity hits and sometimes you just got to deal with it. You got to keep moving forward. I struggled with things coming in, but now I feel a little bit more adjusted to everything. I just want to improve.”

Now back on the field, Nix can add depth to the Texans front line. The team traded up for Nix last year, and some had the former Notre Dame nose tackle rated as the top interior d-lineman in the draft.

Another name fans have heard is that of ‘Mr. Irrelevant’, Texans seventh-round pick Lonnie Ballentine. After a hamstring injury forced him to the injured reserve, the former Memphis Tiger is finally get the chance to show his ability. The 6-foot-3 safety cuts an impressive figure on the field, and will have a chance to make a contribution to the squad in 2015.

In addition to those three, others from the 2014 class have commented on being more comfortable going into year two. Tom Savage, C.J. Fiedorowicz and Andre Hal have all shared that sentiment, and expect to be bigger contributors this time around. Number one overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is also on the mend, with could add another big piece to an already stout looking Texans defense.

Brown blasts 20th homer to back Vince Wilfork in win

This time the lead Houston Texans held.

One day after Cliff Lee and the Phillies’ bullpen blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning against the Padres in what might have been the team’s worst loss of the season, the Phillies bounced back on Tuesday with a relatively easy 6-2 victory at Petco Park.

Domonic Brown hit his 20th homer Men’s Nike Houston Texans 75 Vince Wilfork Elite Navy Blue Team Color NFL Jersey and had four RBIs, while Kyle Kendrick allowed two runs in eight innings to improve to 7-4. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

The Phillies can further ease the sting of Monday’s loss and finish the first leg of their 10-game road trip on the right foot with a victory in Wednesday’s series finale. Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels, a San Diego Vince Wilfork Texans Jersey native, will be on the mound, and he is 4-1 with a 1.27 ERA in six starts at Petco.

Brown and Kendrick led the way on Tuesday. Brown blasted a three-run homer to right-center field with two outs in the third inning to give the Phillies a 3-2 lead.

It had been a while since Brown homered — June 8, to be exact. In the 14 games between that homer and the three-run homer Tuesday, Brown hit .192 (10-for-52) with three doubles, three RBIs, five walks, 15 strikeouts and a .509 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. That followed a remarkable 15-game stretch in which he hit .404 (23-for-57) with three doubles, one triple, 11 Men’s Nike Houston Texans 75 Vince Wilfork Elite Away White Football Jersey Sale homers, 22 RBIs, four walks, 12 strikeouts and a 1.070 OPS.

Brown became the first Phillies player to have 20 or more homer run before July since Raul Ibanez (22) and Ryan Howard (20) in 2009.

The Phillies loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, as Padres right-hander Jason Marquis allowed singles to Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley and walked Howard. Marquis walked Brown on four pitches to score Rollins and make it 4-2. Marquis allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings. He has a 5.71 ERA in 28 career appearances against the Phillies.

A wild pitch from Brad Brach scored Vince Wilfork Jersey Utley to make it 5-2 and John Mayberry Jr.’s sacrifice fly scored Howard to make it 6-2.

Kendrick allowed two runs in the second inning but then retired 14 of 16 batters until giving up consecutive singles with one out in the seventh. Kendrick struck out Logan Forsythe and got Mark Kotsay to fly out to center field to end the threat.

BTS star continues chase for $5.6 million prize J.J.Watt Youth Jersey

In 13-plus seasons of Beat the Youth Nike Houston Texans 99 J.J. Watt Elite Away White Jersey Streak play, only 35 individuals had reached the 40-game plateau as of Monday morning. But thanks to an infield single from Angels phenom Mike Trout, one more man has managed to join the exclusive group.

Michael Ray — a 28-year-old Astros fan from Brenham, Texas — entered Monday with a 38-game streak and ended his evening as the newest member of Club 40. In order to gain entry, Ray correctly predicted that Trout and Alex Rios of the White Sox would reach base via hit during their teams’ respective games.

Earlier in the day, we sent out the BTS J.J.Watt Youth Jersey Report P.I. Squad to dig up some dirt on our season leader, who goes by the BTS name “chillin_like_flint.” And by “dig up dirt,” we mean we emailed him some personal questions, and he was kind enough to respond. And as evidenced by his latest performance, Ray was unfazed by the intense media scrutiny.

The owner of the 2013 season’s longest streak to date, Ray is enjoying unprecedented personal BTS success. In fact, he had never previously compiled a double-digit streak. So how is he doing it?

“I’m not using any strategies, really,” said Ray, who is in his third season of BTS play. “[I am] just trying to pick the studs off of each team and exploit the good pitching matchups.”

The object of MLB.com’s Beat the Streak game is to establish a virtual “hitting streak” and keep it going for as long as possible. Fans can do this by selecting one or two big leaguers on any game day. If those player(s) record at least one hit in the game for which they were selected, the streak continues. Fans do not have to make 57 consecutive correct picks to claim a prize — awards are given to those who achieve 45-, 35- and 30-game streaks.

Rios took some pressure off Ray right away in the White Sox tilt against the Twins, rapping a first-inning double down the left-field line at Minnesota’s Target Field. Rios did not record another hit in the contest, finishing 1-for-3 with two RBIs. But that mattered not to Ray, whose full attention shifted to Angel Stadium and the speedy Trout.

But unlike Rios, the reigning American League Rookie of the Year did not alleviate Ray’s angst out of the gate. If anything, the 21-year-old Trout made the Texas resident sweat it out.

Coming to the plate in the first inning, Trout hit on top of a two-seam fastball for a groundout. Two frames later, he struck out on a slider from Royals starter Luis Mendoza. But the third time proved to be the charm as the Millville Meteor used every bit of his speed to leg out an infield single — his only hit of the ballgame — in the sixth.

And with that, Ray managed to live another day.

Just as he did on Monday, Ray has utilized the “Double Down” feature more than 10 times during his current run. “Double Down” allows you to pick up to two players in a day to grow your streak faster. But if Youth Nike Houston Texans 99 J.J. Watt Elite Camo Realtree Collection Jersey either pick is incorrect, your streak returns to zero. By employing this strategy, Ray has been able to streak along in an expedient fashion.

The fact that Trout helped Ray reach a BTS milestone is fitting because the outfielder is one of Ray’s favorite players to watch. Trout has also played a key role during Ray’s current run, having been selected on four different days. In total, Ray has relied on 20 different big leaguers, going to the well at least thrice with an even smaller player pool (Adam Jones — five times; Evan Longoria, Robinson Cano and Trout — four times; Dustin Pedroia and Miguel Cabrera — three times).

An MRI/CT/X-Ray technologist by trade and an ardent fan of Astros legend Craig Biggio, Ray would be excited by the prospect of assisting others should he manage to win the $5.6 million grand prize. In order to do so, one must make 57 straight successful BTS selections.

The question everyone is clamoring to answer is whether Youth Nike Houston Texans 99 J.J. Watt Elite Navy Blue Team Color Captain Patch Jersey Ray will have the mettle to reach the apex of the BTS mountain. Unfortunately, we will have to wait to find out. But for the time being, let’s all sit back — nah, stand up — and cheer him on as he chases history … and a whole lot of cash.

Nice work: Ray J.J.Watt Youth Jersey Cheap was not the only Beat the Streaker to enter Monday with a 38-gamer on the line. Mitch Wiener, a 43-year-old Mets fan from Woodbury, N.Y., watched his favorite team end his streak when the Cardinals’ Carlos Beltran went 0-for-3 with a walk against New York’s NL club. The end of his run aside, Wiener deserves to be lauded for a job well done.J.J.Watt Jersey.

J.J.Watt Jersey Worth noting but Everything

The Astros announced Tuesday that Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt Jersey Sale, the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Astros-Rangers season-opener at Minute Maid Park.

J.J.Watt Black Lights Out Jersey  Porter says he is “getting close” to being able to name a starting pitcher for the March 31 season-opener against the Rangers at Minute Maid Park. It will be between right-handers Bud Norris and Lucas Harrell, though it is worth pointing out that Harrell is following Norris in the rotation during Grapefruit League play.

• Porter said Humber looked “great” in his simulated game Monday against Minor Leaguers and hinted he was in good standing for a rotation spot.

No shutout, but Nats finish sweep of Marlins Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale

The Marlins Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale finally scored a run against the Nationals, but it wasn’t enough as Washington won the game, 6-1, on Thursday at Nationals Park.

The Nats start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2008. Right-hander Jordan Zimmermann pitched six innings, allowing one run on eight hits. The run came in the second inning when Justin Ruggiano hit a home run over the right-field wall. The homer snapped a scoreless streak of 19 innings for the Marlins.

Zimmermann was thinking about not giving up a run before the game. Why? Stephen Strasburg and Gio Gonzalez didn’t allow runs in their first starts of the season.

“[Ruggiano] swings first pitch all the time. I figured if I could throw a fastball down and away and get him to roll over it, I could get a weak fly ball,” Zimmermann said. “I kind of left it over the middle a little bit, and he made me pay.”

Zimmermann believed he gave up too many two-strike hits, but he managed to get out of jams. For example, the Marlins’ best chance to score more runs occurred in the sixth inning. They had runners on first and second with no outs, but Adeiny Hechavarria hit into a double play and pinch-hitter Austin Kearns grounded out to first baseman Adam LaRoche to end the threat.

“I felt good. It’s the best I’ve felt in a long time,” Zimmermann said. “It’s one of those days where I had to battle and make the pitches when I needed a ground ball.”

Left-hander Wade LeBlanc lasted five innings for Miami, allowing three runs — two earned — on five hits. Washington scored the first two runs in the first inning, when Ryan Zimmerman doubled over the head of Ruggiano in center field, scoring Jayson Werth and Bryce Harper. At first it looked like Harper was seriously hurt after Rob Brantly’s arm hit the right side of Harper’s face. But Harper managed to get up and retrieve his batting helmet.

“I actually didn’t think it was that bad. But the way he reacted, I thought he got shot or something,” Werth said. “I wanted to make sure the little guy was all right.”

The Nationals added to their lead an inning after Ruggiano’s homer. Denard Span led off and reached base on a bunt single and made it to second on an error by LeBlanc.

“It was kind of spur of the moment when I decided to bunt,” Span said. “I saw something and I just trusted my instincts.”

Span then scored on a single by Harper, who is now 6-for-12 for the regular season. Harper was humble when talking about his fast start.

“It’s a long season. You try to go out there and square things up as much as you can, have good at-bats, just try to work hard and good things will happen,” Harper said. “We have three W’s in the win column. Hopefully we’ll keep going.”

The Nationals scored three more runs in the seventh inning. With two runners on, Werth swung at Mike Dunn’s 1-1 pitch and hit the ball into the left-field bullpen to give the Nationals a five-run lead.

“That’s what happens with young teams, you almost have to play perfect out there,” Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. “If we give them extra outs or extra opportunities, they’re going to take advantage of it. They were able to do that today.”

For Werth, it was his first home run of the season, and it appears the left wrist that he broke last May is getting stronger.Ed Reed Jersey.

“Today, it feels like the first real day of the season,” Werth Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale said. “I started feeling a little bit better today — batting practice. As the game went on, I felt like I had my rhythm. It showed up toward the end.”

The Nationals’ bullpen proved to be unhittable as Henry Rodriguez, Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen blanked Miami the final three innings.

The Nationals now go to Cincinnati to face the Reds for a three-game series. This will be a big test because the Reds are not rebuilding like the Marlins. The Nats will face a team that won the National League Central last season.

“We have a long way to go. We are definitely starting on the right foot,” Werth said.Ed Reed Texans Jersey.

Arencibia homers twice as Blue Jays get first win.Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale

When Alex Anthopoulos put together the Blue Jays this offseason, he envisioned a ballclub that would hit plenty of home runs and cause lots of problems on the basepaths.

Both the speed and power were on full display on Thursday night as the Blue Jays finally showed just how impressive they can be when firing on all cylinders.

Toronto broke out of a mini two-game slump in a big way by unloading for five home runs and stealing a couple of more runs with their feet in a 10-8 victory over the Indians in front of 19,515 fans at Rogers Centre.

“I think everyone has an idea of what this offense is capable of,” Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia said. “Two games don’t make your season and no one is worried about it here. Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale.Everybody knows what we have in this clubhouse. You can’t get too high, you come back tomorrow and same attitude, ready to win.”

Arencibia led the way with a pair of homers while Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Colby Rasmus also went deep for Toronto. Four of the five home runs came off right-hander Brett Myers, who matched his career high for most homers allowed in one game.

With all off the balls flying out at Rogers Centre, it was almost easy to ignore the speed, which played just as vital of a role. Jose Reyes and Emilio Bonifacio combined to provide a spark that has been missing in recent years on the Blue Jays roster.

Bonifacio turned a routine single into a double when he caught Michael Bourn off guard in center field. He would later come around to score on an error by first baseman Mark Reynolds.Cheap Ed Reed Jersey.

Reyes then stole a much-needed insurance run in the eighth when he scored all the way from second base on an attempted double play. Cleveland got one out at second and was looking for another out at first, but Reyes kept running and when Bautista was ruled safe it enabled another run to score.

“That’s just an overall sample of what we can bring to the table when individuals do what they’re capable of doing,” Bautista said. “We had some guys hit some home runs, some guys ran the bases great, some great defensive plays as well, and we got the clutch hits when we needed them.”

Bonifacio, who went 2-for-4, was a star with the bat, but his biggest contribution could be found at second base. He made a pair of diving plays up the middle during the eighth inning which preserved what at the time was a slim one-run lead.

The first play occurred with runners on first and second. Cleveland’s Michael Brantley hit a sharp grounder up the middle that appeared destined for the outfield. Bonifacio made a diving stab and was unable to get the force at second, but kept Jason Kipnis from scoring on the play.

During the following at-bat, Bonifacio once again took center stage. He ranged deep up the middle and made a strong throw to first to take a pair of RBIs away from Carlos Santana.Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale.

“Santana hit the ball up the middle, I think everybody in the ballpark thought it’s up the middle and we’re going to take the lead,” Indians manager Terry Francona said. “We saw tonight flashes of what they can do, with their speed and their defense.”Ed Reed Jersey.

The overall production on offense helped left-hander Mark Buehrle avoid the loss in his Blue Jays’ debut, but it wasn’t pretty. The Indians scored one in the first and two more in the fourth on back-to-back homers by Santana and Reynolds.

Ed Reed Texans Jersey.

Buehrle’s toughest inning came in the sixth. Buehrle began the frame with a walk and a hit batsman before surrendering doubles to Santana and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall. Toronto’s veteran starter was charged with six runs on seven hits while striking out four in 5 1/3 innings of work.

“I think the biggest thing I’m frustrated about is going out there after we just scored three runs to take a 6-3 lead, go out there and walk the leadoff guy, hit a guy, put yourself in a jam,” Buehrle said. “That’s unacceptable. I need to do a better job, but I just got behind in counts and guys got base hits and the next thing you know it’s a tie game.

“But I thank some of the guys on offense for picking me up and there will be a day when I pick them up when we don’t score many runs and hopefully I can hold the opponent down and we can win that game.”

With the victory, the Blue Jays avoided being swept in the season-opening series, which hadn’t happened since 2004. It also helped the club finish on a positive note in advance of former manager John Farrell’s return to Rogers Centre on Friday night with the Red Sox.

Though intended to be a celebration of sorts, the American League champions’ flag-raising ceremony prior to Friday’s home opener at Comerica Park will likely serve as a reminder of what could have been for the Tigers.

The ceremony kicks off Detroit’s home-opening weekend against the Yankees, but the focus for the Tigers — who were swept in last year’s World Series — is already on making sure there’s a different kind of banner being raised at this time next year.

Nonetheless, after dropping two of three in Minnesota to start the season, the Tigers are eager to play in front of the home crowd for the first time this season — or ever, in the case of newcomer Torii Hunter Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale.

“It’s going to be crazy, electrifying, and it’s going to be a lot fun,” said Hunter, who signed with the Tigers after spending last year with the Angels. “These guys are just going off winning the ALCS, getting to the World Series, and the support system’s going to be crazy, bigger than I’ve probably ever been a part of. Because I’ve never been on a team that’s been to the World Series and won the ALCS. This will really be my first time experiencing this.”

The Tigers, after getting pummeled in Thursday’s series finale against the Twins, will look to rebound when they send Doug Fister to the mound in Friday’s series opener to square off against Yankees right-hander Ivan Nova.

Nova, coming off a disastrous second-half last season, had his share of struggles in Spring Training.

After starting last season 10-3 with a 3.92 ERA before the All-Star break, Nova went 2-5 with a 7.05 ERA in 11 starts the rest of the way. He turned in a 4.19 ERA in five Grapefruit League starts this spring, but that doesn’t include his final spring outing in which he was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on eight hits, including two homers, against the Blue Jays’ Class A Dunedin lineup.Ed Reed Texans Jersey.

“He had a pretty good spring. I thought he had better command of his fastball, which is important,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “I thought his curveball was really good in Spring Training. For him, it’s consistency. If he’s consistent, and he’s consistently down on the outer thirds, he’s going to be pretty good.”

Nova finds himself in the rotation in part because of the injury to Phil Hughes. Both Nova and David Phelps broke camp as starters with Phelps on the disabled list alongside shortstop Derek Jeter, center fielder Curtis Granderson, first baseman Mark Teixeira and third baseman Alex Rodriguez, among others.

So while the defending AL champion Tigers take the field Friday not only with most of last year’s lineup intact, but the additions of Hunter and a healthy Victor Martinez, the Yankees will be continuing to search for chemistry with their makeshift lineup.Ed Reed Jersey.

“You never want to lose games,” said outfielder Vernon Houston Texans Ed Reed Jersey for Sale Wells, acquired on March 26 to help compensate for the injuries. “Obviously they’re going to come, but we haven’t played good enough baseball to win. That’s the bottom line. We haven’t clicked in all three phases of the game. It’s just a matter of time before we do. It’d be nice for it to happen sooner than later.”
